Why we choose aluminum

Aluminum is our preferred metal of choice for a few reasons.  Firstly, it does not rust.  Its integrity is sound over time in various climates.  Also, it is light and is easy to work with during the construction of your project, while being strong and durable.  Since aluminum doesn’t contain iron, it doesn’t rust away. However, aluminum can corrode when exposed to moisture and oxygen. This process, called oxidation, leads to the formation of a white layer over the affected aluminum, which acts as a protective shield against further corrosion.  This fact along with its superior strength to weight ratio, makes aluminum a clear choice for us.

Galvanized Steel

Steel rusts, which causes the metal to flake away, exposing new steel. The process starts over and goes round and round weakening the steel until it is basically eroded back to a more natural state.  Steel that is rusted has that familiar orange color.  If you look closely you can see that this frame has been constructed with screws, rather than welding.  Puncturing the steel with nails or screws compromises the galvanized coating, speeding up the natural rusting process.
